What is Missions?

Missions is a ministry designed to promote youth dreaming, planning, and delivering evangelistic outreach and humanitarian efforts abroad beyond the borders of Ontario to people groups of all kinds based on various felt needs.

  • Youth impacting lives in Ontario and across the world through evangelistic, outreach, and humanitarian initiatives.

  • To foster a mission mindset through resourcing, promoting, planning, and delivering mission initiatives.

    • To research and strategize opportunities mission

    • To seek and raise needed funds

    • Assist churches in navigating the missions process

    • To equip youth with the skills to plan their mission trips while purposefully nurturing and developing their relationships with Christ.

    • To lead several mission trips per year

    • To promote missions broadly around Ontario Conference

Mission opportunities await! Engage in promotions, cultural sensitivity training, and fundraisers. Explore long-term and short-term mission trips. Attend workshops to prepare for service. Make a difference individually or as a group. Contribute to building schools and churches, lead a Vacation Bible School, teach at a camp, or preach an evangelistic series.

RURAL ONTARIO

RURAL ONTARIO

In partnership with the Church Growth and Master Guide ministries of the Ontario Conference, small, rural, growing churches in Ontario often request the support of mid-to-larger churches in Ontario. These larger churches can assist in construction, evangelistic efforts, or other church growth activities.

  • Location: Small Church in Rural Ontario

  • Dates: June-August, 2025

  • Activities:

    • Evangelistic Projects

    • Vacation Bible School

    • Construction Projects

    • Health & Wellness Outreach

    • Both churches can discuss ideas to determine a beneficial project.

  • Participation Fee: To be determined based on transportation, lodging, and food needs.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Maranatha Volunteers International will complete the building of a large pre-kindergarten through secondary school campus in Ciudad del Cielo, a region of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, without Christian education options. This special project is dedicated to Darrell Hardy, Maranatha’s late vice president of construction. The project will conclude with a special dedication service.

  • Location: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

  • Dates: July 24-27, 2025

  • Activity: Construction of an Adventist school

  • Participation Fee: $500 (Doesn’t include airfare)

CRUISE IN THE CARIBBEAN

CRUISE IN THE CARIBBEAN

In partnership with the Center for Youth Evangelism, this project provides young adults from all walks of life opportunities to authentically connect with God and with others in the Christian community. Through the mission/cruise experience, they can expect to renew their personal, spiritual journey, discover meaningful community as they interact with other participants, and experience genuine joy as they engage in serving others both on and off the ship.

  • Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida to 5 Caribbean islands

  • Dates: December 14-21, 2025

  • Activities:

    • “Fix-it-Up,” type projects

    • Medical and/or Dental Clinics

    • Vacation Bible School

    • General clean-ups

  • Participant Fee: $300 USD (doesn’t include flight to Fort Lauderdale, cruise ship accommodations, & food)

OREGON

OREGON

Each year, Maranatha Volunteers International works with organizations in the United States and Canada to provide volunteer labor for various construction or renovation projects. This year, Maranatha will assist Milo Adventist Academy with repair work for the campus which was originally built in the 50’s.

  • Location: Oregon, USA

  • Dates: June 8-20, 2025

  • Activity: Volunteers to assist with constructing bathrooms in the camp lodge, replace plumbing drains, replace and paint Boys’ dorm doors, replace siding, and paint the gym.

  • Participant Fee: $0, which includes housing, 3 meals, and insurance. Doesn’t include airfare.

KAPUSKASING

KAPUSKASING

Since 2024, young adults from the Youth Missions Ontario team have traveled hours to join an Adventist family during the Thanksgiving season to provide a community fair to their neighbours. This effort seeks to reach the community in a creative way and sharing Christ to residents.

  • Dates: October 2025

  • Activities:

    • Singing

    • Face Painting

    • Children’s Crafts

    • Other Engaging Activities

  • Participant Fee: $50 CAD (includes transportation, meals and materials)

NORTHERN ONTARIO

True North is a recurring project that supports humanitarian and evangelistic efforts in Lac Seul Reservation in Northern Ontario. This project is often in partnership with ADRA Canada and the Independent First Nation Alliance (IFNA).

  • Location: Sioux Lookout, ON

  • Dates: August 2025

  • Activities:

    • Vacation Bible School

    • Fire Prevention & Maintenance

    • Health Initiatives

  • Participant Fee: $350 CAN (includes transportation, meals & materials)
