A Heart Full of Gratitude: Youth Director’s Perspective

Once again, we arrive at that special season of the year when the world turns its attention to Christmas. For many, this time is marked by bustling shopping malls, festive gatherings, gift exchanges, and a calendar full of joyful activity.

Yet for us as believers, the deepest joy of Christmas is not found in the busyness of the season, but in the renewed awareness of Jesus Christ, the One who gives this season its true meaning. The prophet Isaiah foretold this hope when he declared: “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

Matthew echoes this prophetic promise as he recounts the angel’s words: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)

As you navigate crowded stores, celebrate with family and friends, attend special worship services, and exchange gifts, may you be reminded that the greatest gift ever given is Jesus Christ, God’s Son, who came to live with us, walk with us, and die for us, and who will one day return for us.

In this season of giving, I take this moment to express heartfelt appreciation to our youth and young adult leaders, public campus leaders, leaders of unique ministries, regional youth association executives, youth pastors, the members of our YMAC team, Julie Columbie (office assistant), and Pastor In Pyo Hong (associate youth director). Your tireless service and unwavering commitment to shaping the lives of younger generations is truly a labour of love.

Be encouraged that, in a generation searching for meaning, your ministry continues to point young hearts to the true Hope of the world. Thank you for your dedication, your sacrifice, and your steadfast support of Ontario Conference Youth Ministries throughout this year.

Exciting and meaningful initiatives are already taking shape for the year ahead, so stay tuned! May you and your loved ones experience a joy-filled Christmas and a new year filled with hope, purpose, and God’s abundant blessings.
