GTA Refresh Summit: From Curiosity to Commitment

The GTA Regions gathered on January 15 - 16 at Kingsview Village SDA Church for a weekend of reflection, connection, and visioning for the future of youth leadership. Pastor In Pyo Hong, Associate Youth Director of the Ontario Conference, delivered a powerful sermon on the five levels of commitment, offering a simple but meaningful framework for spiritual growth and leadership development. He challenged leaders to grow into committed, dependable, mission‑driven individuals whose faith shapes their daily lives into people who mentor others, carry the vision forward, and help youth move into a deeper relationship with God.

Across Friday night and Sabbath afternoon, leaders participated in hands‑on workshops designed to give them practical tools they could use right away. Sessions on ministry within and beyond the walls reminded leaders that real impact happens wherever people need it most; whether inside the church or out in the community. Workshops on care and resilience emphasized that supporting youth also means supporting the leaders who serve them, encouraging sustainable practices and healthier ministry rhythms.
But the summit was more than sessions and note‑taking. It was filled with great food, laughter, and late‑night conversations that sparked ideas for the future. The atmosphere blended warmth with encouragement, creating a space where leaders felt both inspired and challenged to take meaningful steps forward. By the end of the weekend, attendees didn’t just leave motivated they left equipped, empowered, and connected to a stronger network of peers across the GTA.

With a renewed sense of purpose, leaders are stepping into 2026 ready to guide young people from curiosity to commitment, to lead with passion without burning out, and to build ministries that are compassionate, missional, and grounded in authentic relationships. The summit planted seeds of growth and vision; now the work begins to nurture those seeds into lasting change across our churches and communities.
