Comunión en Acción: MSC’s Global Youth Day
It’s already March break and instead of going on a trip a regional flyer pops up. The words “see you there” in bold font caught my eyes.
It’s Global Youth Day and for the first time, I’ll be able to attend four churches in the region on one day. Sabbath at Spanish Bethel SDA Church was a celebration like no other. An entire day centered on worship, service, health ministry, and community outreach. The day began with a powerful divine service, where David Machuca shared a message titled “¡ Comunión en Acción !” This message set the tone for the entire day by reminding the church that true communion with God should lead to active service for others. During the service, the church also witnessed a special moment as Carlos and Ricardo were ordained as deacons, making the day even more meaningful for the congregation.
Divine service at Hope SDA Church was a blessing. Youth led and youth centered. Church was filled with lots of familiar faces. Youth from all over the region as far as the eye could see, all joined in praises to God. If you know what I’m talking about, you'd never walk in late because you’d have to be ushered in to find a seat. The praises went up as Pastor Jayson Levy shared a powerful message. Communion with God brings fear under control
Espaço Novo Tempo- Toronto along with Luzo Brazilian Adventist Church hosted a joint program as well as lifting up a high note of praise. As service came to an end, the scent of well prepared lunch made it's way into the main sanctuary. Something must have been prepared just for us to enjoy.
At 2:30pm, the two groups for the afternoon outreach activities met. Everyone present got a t-shirt which was a welcomed surprise. One group, led by elder Andrés, visited The Village of Humber Heights Retirement Home. The youth, accompanied by the Adventurers, shared the love of Christ through music and testimonies. The program included violin performances, guitar sing along, special music presented by the Adventurers and spoken word by one of our youth leaders, Jessica. This visit brought encouragement, joy, and spiritual warmth to the residents.
Simultaneously the second group, led by Wendy, director of the Pathfinder Red Hawks, did outreach ministry at High Park. This group connected with people in the park by showcasing Pathfinder activities, including drilling demonstrations, which drew the attention of those passing by. They also distributed literature and took the opportunity to share a positive witness in the community through their presence, organization, and spirit of service.
At 5:00 p.m., both groups reunited at High Park for a special AY program focused on “ExpoSalud”. During this program, the church shared the message of the eight natural remedies, speaking with people who were passing through the park and offering practical principles for healthier living. Before the youth message began, the group sang songs accompanied by guitar, creating a welcoming and spiritual atmosphere. The program concluded with a short meditation on faith in action, followed by a time of prayer together. Our nurse was on site, ready to check visitors blood sugar levels for free as they stopped by.
The night ended with a Youth talent showcase and an interactive discovery of unknown potential. All from our region but sometimes hidden from view.
Overall, Global Youth Day 2026 was a meaningful experience for the youth and churches in our region
