On November 7–8, 2025, at Marriott SpringHill Suites in Vaughan, the 2025 Young Professionals Network (YPN) Convention gathered over 100 emerging professionals, tradespeople, and entrepreneurs in Ontario under the theme “Serving Christ Through Vocation.” Hosted by the Young Professionals Network Ministry of the Ontario Conference Youth and Young Adults Department, the weekend fostered an atmosphere of spiritual renewal, professional growth, and authentic connection among young adults committed to integrating faith and purpose in their careers.

The convention opened Friday evening, November 7, with remarks from Ms. Janice Anderson, Senior Policy Advisor with the Government of Canada, who delivered an empowering keynote on leadership integrity. Ms. Anderson emphasized the importance of “diplomacy, not avoidance,” reminding attendees that trust is lost when leaders fail to deliver what is needed. Her call to “be brave, be clear, be true” resonated deeply with young professionals navigating complex workplaces and leadership roles. Attendees were then able to engage in a Q&A with Ms. Anderson, moderated by Serena Aira, where thoughtful questions were posed and open conversations occurred.

On Sabbath morning, November 8, small group discussions encouraged attendees to get to know each other better but also engage in spiritually-filled topics. Following the discussions, Jelani Watson, of Jazz.FM 91, shared an initiative he leads that provides musical instruments to underserved communities in the Greater Toronto Area.

During Sabbath worship, Pastor Saixi (Chris) Lu, Associate Pastor of the Toronto Chinese Seventh-day Adventist Church, shared a powerful personal testimony on listening to God’s call. Drawing from his own experience as a chemist serving at the highest state levels in his home country, Pastor Lu spoke of the moment he chose to follow God’s leading into full-time ministry — refusing to compromise integrity even in the face of opportunity and prestige. His message reinforced that true vocation is rooted in obedience to Christ’s voice.

Attendees were also addressed by Pastor Jakov Bibulović, President of the Ontario Conference, who urged young professionals to take an active role in their local churches. He emphasized the church’s responsibility to make room for emerging leaders, reminding all that “God calls for youthful ardor.”

The day concluded with an inspiring Sabbath evening address from The Honourable Justice Donald McLeod of the Ontario Court of Justice. Reflecting on his humble beginnings, Justice McLeod attributed his achievements not merely to intellect but to unwavering faith and trust in God. He encouraged attendees to “fully trust God” never compromising sacred Sabbath observance, and allow faith to shape your professional journey.

A memorable highlight of the YPN Convention was the collective worship experience as voices united in singing, “If You Can Use Anything, Lord, Use Me.” The song embodied the weekend’s mission — a dedication to serve God through one’s career and influence.
