The Sweet Spot: March Edition

I don’t know about you, but I’m very excited to finally get into the month of March. Not only does this mean less snow storms, but it also means the start of spring! While many people will take this as a chance to start gardening their flowers and cleaning up their rooms, another place that can use a little freshening up is our hearts. Just like we get that urge to declutter our homes, we should also take a moment to declutter our minds and spirit. It’s easy to let old habits, worries, or distractions pile up, and before you know it, they’re blocking us from the peace and growth God wants for us.

Start by asking yourself, “What’s been weighing me down lately?” Maybe it’s the constant stress of school, a job that seems overwhelming, a relationship that’s draining you, a temptation you’ve always given into, or just too many distractions pulling you in every direction. Try to take the time now to clear out the stresses and emotions that are weighing you down. I might suggest doing this through prayer, talking it out with a friend, or even just taking a breather to reflect on where you are and give your worries to God.

Then, as we step into this spring season, look at what you want to invite in. Maybe you’ve been feeling overwhelmed and could use more quiet moments for prayer or Bible reading to reconnect with God. Perhaps it’s time to add a little more joy, gratitude, or creativity into your daily routine to energize you and help you focus on the positives. At the end of the day, spring cleaning isn’t just about getting rid of stuff, it’s also about making room for something better. So, take a deep breath, hit refresh, and step into this new month with a heart that’s lighter, freer, and open to whatever God has in store for you.
