Meet Our Speakers

Carl & Vennassa Cunningham

Originally from Jamaica and now based in Lacombe, Alberta, Pastor Carl serves as the Associate Chaplain at Burman University. A musician, worship leader, educator, and proud “Chap C,” he is passionate about empowering the next generation, serving community, and helping people encounter God in meaningful ways. He holds master’s degrees in Choral Conducting and Divinity from Andrews University.

They bring a beautiful blend of ministry, mental health, music, culture, and real-life wisdom to this year’s Young Adult Retreat.

Vennassa is a dynamic speaker, registered psychotherapist, professional counsellor, and psycho-educator. Her work focuses on creating safe, compassionate spaces for people navigating anxiety, depression, loss, abuse, family separation, and other life-shaping experiences. As a Black Jamaican immigrant, she brings a culturally responsive and deeply human approach to mental health and courageous living.

Together, Carl and Vennassa love travel, nature, community, meaningful conversations, and helping young adults thrive in faith, life, and purpose. They are passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow. Throughout the weekend, attendees will experience their shared mission of empowering individuals to live authentically and pursue their God-given purpose with confidence.
