Ignite ACF Church on Campus: A Heart of Worship

On March 7th, approximately 150 students and young adults gathered at Carleton University for Ignite Adventist Christian Fellowship’s annual Church on Campus. The event welcomed current and former university students from Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto to worship God as a united community on a public university campus. The day began with Sabbath School which featured breakfast, tea, and an intense game of Heads Up: Bible Edition. The energy in the room was high as students got to connect and meet each other through various interactive icebreakers.

As the program continued, there was an unmistakable sense of community and belonging that filled the room. It served as a powerful reminder of how much our youth communities can thrive through fellowship and faith, and how important it is to create the space for that to happen.

The theme for the day, Heart of Worship, explored what it truly means to worship God in a digital age shaped by constant notifications, dopamine addictions, and academic pressures. The message resonated deeply with many students, speaking directly to the challenges they were facing and encouraging them to keep Christ at the center of their lives. It reminded students that their identity is found in God rather than achievements or academic success.

Church on Campus encourages students to come together and worship on their public university campuses.

Organized and led by students, the event is planned to specifically address the spiritual needs of today’s youth. The goal is for each student to leave feeling seen, feeling renewed and knowing that they are loved by God.

Ignite ACF is dedicated to lighting a passion for Christ at Algonquin College and Carleton University. Within Ottawa, Ignite’s Church on Campus was the start of a series of impactful youth events that sparked faith in action, such as Lighthouse ACF’s Church on Campus which took place the following week.

The ACF ministry meets students where they are and welcomes individuals at any stage of their walk with Christ. Church on Campus is proof that there is a hunger for meaningful spiritual experiences and Christ-centered community among youth today.

If you missed the event, feel free to check out the recap video posted to the club Instagram page at @IgniteACF. Next year, Ignite hopes to welcome even more faces as we strive to reach the campus and change the world.
